The (SOAR) is the ‘Strengthening the security and resilience of at-risk religious sites and communities’ programme that is funded by the European Commission and is working in 7 EU Pilot countries; Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, France & Hungary. Enhancing Faith Institutions (EFI) are the project lead working alongside project partners who are based across Europe; Finn Church Aid & Architects Council of Europe.

Recent terror attacks on religious places across Europe has prompted a focus on the vulnerability of places of worship and need for focused support and training. Places of worship are, by design, locations that are open and welcoming to all. However, the nature of these sites automatically inserts an inherent security vulnerability for the religious leaders and their worshippers. The SOAR Security Project has a range of training and support programmes available for Places of Worship in one of the 7 EU countries listed above.
